Does the EU AI Act apply to UK businesses after Brexit?
Yes. Brexit changed political governance, not commercial reality. The Act applies based on where your AI is used, not where your company is incorporated.
When UK Businesses Must Comply
You ARE subject to EU AI Act if:

- • You provide AI systems or outputs to EU customers (e.g., SaaS platform with German subscribers)
- • You process data from EU individuals using AI (GDPR overlap)

Additional Consequences:

How do I know if my AI is classified as high-risk?
The Act defines four risk categories. Your compliance burden depends on classification.

Unacceptable Risk (PROHIBITED)
Cannot be deployed under any circumstances:

Compliance Requirements:
- • Clear disclosure that users are interacting with AI

Minimal Risk (NO SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS)
No EU AI Act compliance obligations:

Vendor-Provided AI: If you use third-party AI (e.g., HR software with AI screening), confirm vendor provides EU AI Act compliance documentation. If they can't—consider alternatives before August.
Month 4 (May 2026): Transparency Compliance
Weeks 13-16For limited-risk AI (chatbots, content generation):
